On the arrival of spring, new plants grow on trees, plants and vines. In this season mangoes begin to blossom. The butterflies hovering over the flowers and eager to do Mathupan seem very beautiful. With the arrival of this season, new life comes in nature. In the gardens, coal starts cooking. The mustard yellow flowers around the fields infuse fun and joy into the heart. Gulmohar, sunflower, champa, rose, marigold, jasmine are all seen to be unique.
There are two famous festivals coming in this season - Basant Panchami and Holi.
The festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of the beginning of Basant. Goddess Saraswati, the presiding deity of knowledge, was born on Basant Panchami. On this day, children and women wear spring clothes and dance and sing and celebrate happiness. Basant Panchami day is considered very auspicious. Hence many auspicious works like naming, marriage etc. are done on this day. Often, rice, pudding and other desserts are made in Ghara.
Holi is also the revealing festival of Raga R Masta of this season. this
Holikotsav to commemorate Dah of Prahlad's aunt Holika, famous as Holikotsava to commemorate Ka Dah Purnima is celebrated with great enthusiasm during the month of Falgun.
